That is to say, before the onset of the symptoms of the disease,&#8221; Dr. Lopera said before his presentation.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The new BioMedicine event in Granada will bring together leading <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>professors from the universities of Boston (USA), Oxford (UK), the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden) and Antioquia (Colombia), as well as the Universities of Granada and Seville, among others.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and Dr. Francisco Lopera<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, renowned Colombian neurologist, will be the main protagonists of the first edition of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>&#8216;BioMed &amp;Tech Talks&#8217;: Your appointment with research and innovation, to <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">be held <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>from April 8 to 11 <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">in Granada, coinciding with World Health Day and World Health Week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In its first edition, the event brought together experts from <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Boston <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(United States), <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Oxford <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(United Kingdom), the Karolinska Institute in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Stockholm <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(Sweden) and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Antioquia <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(Colombia), <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Granada <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Seville, as <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">well as health communicators from the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>United States, Latin America and Europe<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, in addition to Spain. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">BioMed &amp; On the other hand, preventing Alzheimer&#8217;s will be easier because the brain is not so destroyed,&#8221; says Dr. Lopera, who maintains that <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>&#8220;the hope for the coming years is preventive therapies at very early ages, that is, before the onset of symptoms of the disease&#8221;<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7927 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/biomedandtechtalks.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/iStock-1199813214-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;We have identified <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>two human beings <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">who were born with a very particular condition. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>They were born with the causality gene that dooms them to develop the disease, but at the same time they inherited a gene that delays for 20 to 30 years the onset of Alzheimer&#8217;s symptoms<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In practice, transferring these cases to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>sporadic Alzheimer&#8217;s<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, the most common worldwide, which usually begins at 65 years of age, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>&#8220;if the onset of symptoms can be delayed by 30 years, it means that this person will start with symptoms at 95 years of age. Since it is very difficult to live to that age, this delay means that the disease will be cured&#8221;<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Innovative format for a high-level event<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>The Hospital Universitario Cl\u00ednico San Cecilio, which serves more than 500 people, <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">will host the first edition of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>&#8216;BioMed&amp;Tech Talks&#8217;: Your appointment with research and innovation<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, a new independent, transversal, international and multidisciplinary event that <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>from April 8 to 11, 2024<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, coinciding with the World Health Day and Week, will give visibility to innovative projects in BioMedicine and BioTechnology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The agenda will include <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>two face-to-face sessions (Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 April) <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>two virtual sessions (10 and 11)<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.
